like all domesticated donkeys, burros are descended from the african wild donkey, and are actually far more closely related to zebras than horses.
but this is actually pretty easy to tell, if you stack both animals up next to each other and squint real hard!
this is also why burros do so well in hot desert environments- to them, it’s just a taste of their ancestral home :)
